If the installation is within a listed building or the property is in an area deemed as of outstanding natural beauty, a smoke free zone, a conservation area or national park planning permission or special conditions may apply. It is the client’s responsibility to check if there are any covenants on their property and with the local authority and planning office before commissioning our services.
Fireplace renovations. Our aim is to open up the fireplace large enough to comfortably accommodate the selected stove. This will be achieved by widening and raising the opening using lintels and supports as required. The surveyor can only estimate the finished opening size and in some circumstances where the opening cannot be made large enough the chosen stove will need to substituted for a smaller model. Renovations and building work will cause dust, clients are requested to remove or cover all valuables. Our fitters carry clean dust sheets and will do as much as is deemed reasonable to sheet up however airborne dust particles will settle for several hours after the installation and additional hovering/cleaning will be required.
The cutting of carpets and moving of furniture will only be undertaken at the customer’s risk. Some minor redecoration maybe required after installation for which the client is responsible.
Our Stainless Steel flue liners and twin wall flue systems are guaranteed for a minimum of Ten years subject to minimum annual sweeping by qualified Sweep. Stove manufactures will only honour extended (more than one year) warranties if the client can show evidence that the stove has been regularly serviced/swept in line with their stipulated conditions. Woodburner Showrooms Ltd offer certificated sweep and maintenance services.
Installations requiring a flexible flue liner. Clients should be aware that there is a small risk that a liner can become stuck in the flue during installation. As a last resort we will need to make a small hole to assist the passage of the liner. We will make good the hole but the client is responsible for any redecoration and plastering.
After installation there is a possibility that the surrounding plaster work may crack due to heat transfer. This is normal and is the responsibility of the client to have repaired.
We do not lift floor boards during the survey. If in the unlikely event unseen plumbing pipes or electrical wiring inhibits the flue system path and needs to moved by another trades person the cost of this is not included in our quote.
Some aspects of the installation may require other services outside of our control to conform to regulations. Our installers will advise on any additional services that may be required at the initial survey. It is the client’s responsibility to ensure these requirements are met. An installation will not be commissioned for use and we accept no responsibility for the installation until it conforms to building regulations/ building control. A Hetas certificate will only be issued and an installation commissioned by our qualified installers once all the requirements have been met in full.
Plastering Services - We use a professional plastering company for all our fireplace renovations. We contact them once the stove installation has been completed and their lead time from that date is between 1 and two weeks.
Our Oak mantels and beams are real wood and are dried before installation. We cannot guarantee that the beams will not have natural splits and cracks that are a natural feature.
